Recently I was commissioned by Laura Womack (Producer/Director of Sterling & Scott) to create artwork for an upcoming documentary titled, The Story Behind The Story Of Lee Pennington. The film delves into the extraordinary life of Lee Pennington—an award-winning documentary filmmaker, poet, musician, songwriter, author, and professor. Lee’s remarkable achievements and his vibrant personality make him a truly fascinating subject. I am so thankful to be part of the team and to have had the opportunity to work on this engaging piece.
As part of the this project, I created several portraits of Lee. In one version I wanted to create the entire portrait using a single-line. This minimalistic approach aimed to capture the essence of Mr. Pennington while making a striking visual impact. It was this image that was selected for the poster, but I thought I would share some of my earlier drafts to celebrate the documentaries debut.
